Headfirst Offers An Overall Experience Including:
Friends & Positive Energy: Every child has the opportunity to meet new friends in a positive environment where success is measured by effort and teamwork and not by winning and losing. While Headfirst strives to challenge each and every person, we want to preserve the enjoyment of attending camp during our programs. Our goals are to teach and instruct, but also and more importantly, to provide a fun and exciting atmosphere. If each child enjoys his experience enough to want to participate again either next season, summer, or school year, then we have succeeded with our mission.
Maximize Effort: Headfirst promotes Effort over Results at all times. It is important to learn what it means to be competitive, but we feel as though it is much more valuable for an individual to understand and learn what it means to be a valued “team-player,” helping to work together with others to accomplish a common goal or project.
Leadership: Headfirst constantly challenges all participants to behave as leaders, support their fellow participants and respect each and every individual.
The Headfirst Full-Time Team
Headfirst has a full-time team of professionals dedicated to Headfirst Camps. Led by our Human Resources Director, Headfirst prides itself on providing the best summer staff in the area. We have an extremely thorough hiring process as we seek teachers, counselors, and coaches who have years of experience working in education or coaching. Our lead counselors are teachers and college students studying or working in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, and Physical Education. We also provide internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
To join Headfirst as a summer camp employee, one must have prior experience working with children or in education, complete an in-depth employee application, be interviewed by our entire hiring team, and pass a full criminal background check. Our seasonal staff has a high return rate year after year as we continue to provide them with an opportunity to work in a fun and safe camp environment with plenty of growth and opportunity. A low camper-to-counselor ratio ensures that campers receive hands-on attention in a safe and supportive environment. Our team encourages leadership by example in a positive and friendly manner.
